Cake Policy & Pricing

PLACING ORDER

Orders for custom decorated cakes and cupcakes should be placed as far in advance as possible. An order is not considered confirmed until a deposit is received. We do not bake anything until a deposit has been received, and we do not accept late payments without prior arrangements. Orders placed within 14 days of an event may incur additional rush order charges based upon schedule and product availability.

DEPOSITS

We require a 50% non-refundable deposit for all orders and this is due a minimum of one week prior to the date of the party or at the time of ordering.  

Due to being a small shop, we can only take so many orders per weekend. If an order is cancelled, any payment made on your order is non-refundable and non transferable. If cancelled at least 5 days in advance (based on order date and pick up time) we will be happy to do a 1 time transfer of  payment made on that order to another order within 3 months from that date.

ORDER/DESIGN FINALIZATION

The date of your deposit is the final date for any changes of size, style or flavors of the cake.  Any changes requested after this date cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional rush-order charges based upon time and product availability. Even with advance notice, we may not be able to accommodate changes of date, location or delivery times due to prior scheduling of other contracts. A final invoice will be sent via email. Full payment must be received no later than 24HRS  prior to the scheduled event. If final payment or other arrangements are not made by this time, your order may be delayed or cancelled.

PRICING

All Good Tayst cakes are priced by the serving (or slice of cake). Our buttercream frosted cakes begin at $5 per serving. Additional design work will increase the cost of the cake. A quote cannot be given until the final design and number of servings are known. Our custom cakes are priced by the cake size, complexity and time involved, and may not solely be priced by the serving .Good Tayst does not make individual fondant or gum paste figures, flowers or any type of separate décor for cakes without the purchase of a cake for those pieces (i.e. pieces are not sold separately).

FLOWERS
If you are requesting real flowers be included in your cake design, please have your florist provide the correct type and number of flowers needed to complete your desired design. If you're requesting flowers (sugar or live) pricing starts from $4/flower depending size and color.

REFUNDS & EXCHANGES

Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, we are unable to provide refunds or exchanges on custom orders

Once you or a designated party has picked up an order and signed for it, it is considered "accepted" – we will ask to make sure that everything is correct such as the design, spelling, etc. Refunds requested due to decorating style, writing, color shade, or general design will not be honored after signing for your cake. In some instances you may bring the cake back in for design adjustments but this is an additional charge if the cake has been signed for.

 

All products are the responsibility of the customer once it leaves our possession. We are not responsible for any damage occurring to the cake during transport, set-up or any time thereafter. You will be given instructions on how to carry, transport, and store your cake upon pick up. Keep in mind that cakes are very fragile and damages can happen if not handled properly – such as cracks, smudges, melted frosting, etc. We only give refunds in accordance with refund policies stated below.

 

Cake flavor and texture is subjective. Full refunds requested due to flavor or texture after the cake has been accepted and picked up will not be honored. You may qualify for a percentage of a store credit if 90% of product is brought back and the quality of the cake flavor or texture is determined to not meet our standards. Cakes must be brought back to us within a timely manner, preferably with 24 hours of pick up - please call or email us promptly to let us know of the issue. Quality determination is solely at our discretion. Please understand that we cannot issue refunds for cakes that have already been completely eaten. *Store credit percent is based on how quickly the cake is returned, how much has been consumed, and what we determine the quality to be. Store credits of any kind will not be issued to customers who do not contact us within 24 hours. 

CANCELLATIONS/ CHANGES

No refunds will be provided for any payments made on the order no matter the amount. If cancelled at least 5 days in advance we will be happy to do a onetime transfer of any payment made on that order to another order within 3 months from that date. We will provide no other refunds regardless the circumstances.  You will be required to pay the full amount if the order is cancelled with less than 5 days notice. This does not apply to orders that have contracts. Note that regardless of the cancellation date, the 50% deposit is always non-refundable.

MODIFICATIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS

We work hard to create flavor combinations that make our products special.  Because of this, we regret that we’re unable to accommodate modifications to menu/ flash sale items (e.g. the addition or omission of particular ingredients (nuts, fillings, etc.) featured in or on our products). 

PICKUP WAIVER

If you have chosen to have your cake/order picked up, we cannot be responsible for damage once it has left our shop. Any repairs or replacement cakes will be subject to additional fees. Any individual picking up a cake must arrive on or before the agreed upon time and arrive in a vehicle appropriate to transport said cake. Should you be running behind schedule we kindly request that you contact us ASAP

WEATHER/CLIMATE CONDITIONS
It's your responsibility to ensure that the cake will be stored and set-up in an area that is climate controlled to ensure that the cake remains intact and retains its original condition. Extremely high temperatures and humidity due to weather conditions and the lack of a cool environment at the appointed location may adversely affect the condition of the cake. Good Tayst will take every step possible to ensure a quality product upon delivery. Good Tayst cannot be held responsible for unfavorable conditions at the cake’s destination. Please note that direct sunlight and temperatures of 75 degrees and higher may have drastic and adverse affects on any confection ordered.

GUARANTEE & DISCLAIMER

We do all that we can to ensure that your order is decorated to the specification. Upon pick-up of your cake, adjustments can be made for an additional charge if it was not stated on your original order. If for some reason something is not decorated correctly as stated on your order, we will make necessary changes right away. 

Every order is hand-made. Decorative finishes are done by hand and are subject to artistic interpretation of our cake decorator. You may provide us with a photograph for inspiration and duplication; however, we make no claims for exact duplication of the work done by other cake decorators.

 

Good Tayst makes every attempt to ensure that your baked goods are free from foreign objects. We are not responsible for damages caused by foreign objects such as candles, sparklers or other decorations that are placed on or in our products, nor are we responsible for damages to said products, or persons handling them once they are picked up, removed, or delivered from our premises.
